Best Start in Life

Best Start in Life replaces Childcare Choices which brings together all the government childcare offers in one  place. The Best Start in Life website makes it  easy to find out what’s on offer including Tax Free Childcare.

https://www.beststartinlife.gov.uk/

Use the Childcare Calculator at www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator to see what offers are available to support you and your family.

Universal Credit

If  your individual circumstances mean that you could claim either Working  Tax Credits, Universal Credit or Childcare Vouchers, it should be noted that you  can not claim both of these. Call the Tax Credits helpline on 0845 300  3900 to find out which method is best for you financially.

You  may be able to get extra financial help if you are in full time higher education with dependent children. We are now registered for Care to Learn Payments.

Snack and Food

We offer a healthy snack - your voluntary contribution of £1.00 per session (increasing to £1.50 from April 2026) goes towards providing this - more information in fees above about voluntary consumables

We  accept online payments and we also take childcare vouchers and Tax free childcare

Early Years Pupil Premium

The Early Years Pupil Premium has  been introduced by the Government and will pay early years providers additional funding, depending on their eligibility and is not  available for 2 year olds. You need to be claiming certain benefits to meet the criteria.

It will not be paid automatically
Parents have to apply by entering details onto the funding form to get this extra money for nursery

Looked After Children

For  looked after children there is a different process to claim for the EYPP. For more  information if you think you may be eligible for this funding please  speak to Gaynor.

Disability Living allowance (DLA) or personal independance payment (PIP)

DLA is a benefit that will help children who have additional needs i.e. asthma or waiting diagnosis of autism or other. Claiming DLA will not affect any benefits you are on - it is to help with parking for appointments, bus fare or buying additional equipment for your child to meet their needs. If you are getting this benefit or applying for it, Gaynor will need to see the awarding letter as we can receive extra payments to help your child in nursery to buy resources to support your child

If your child is booked in for the nursery sessions only i.e. 8.50-2.50pm or 8.50-11.50 am you would only pay the voluntary consumable charge. If your child is booked in for extra hours i.e. 8-4 you will be billed only for the non funded hours. If your child is dropped off earlier you will be billed for the extra time they are in. If they are picked up earlier than they are booked in for you will still be billed to the time you have stated. Lateness will incur a cost of £5.00 for every 5 minutes you are late or part of. Fees are to be paid whether they attend or not
